Simple Lemon Cake Recipe

Ingredients: – 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour – 1 cup granulated sugar – ½ cup unsalted butter, softened – 2 large egg – ½ cup milk – 2 lemons (zest and juice) – 1 teaspoon baking powder – ½ teaspoon salt – Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions: 1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside. 

Cream Butter and Sugar: In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy using a hand mixer or stand mixer. 

Incorporate Eggs and Lemon: Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated. Add the lemon zest and juice, mixing until combined. 

Alternate Mixing: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix. 

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 

Glaze and Serve: Once the cake is baked and cooled slightly, prepare a simple glaze by mixing powdered sugar with lemon juice until smooth.
